Our approach is based on the concept that behavior is communication. When working with children and families, it is key to begin with listening. Concerns from the perspective of the caregiver, teacher, and when able, the child, provide invaluable information regarding day to day functioning. Next, it is necessary to identify the underlying causes of interference through the evaluation process.
As a team (child, caregivers, and therapist, etc.), all aspects of your child will be considered to create a plan to meet your child at their present level and direct them toward their best self. The plan may include direct treatment to address changes to the brain and body, a home program of exercises and strategies for carryover of newly learned skills, and a plethora of take home ideas to calm both child and caregiver(s) across settings.
We aim to empower the child and caregivers to use their areas of strength to help overcome challenges.
